Bursaries

The JSE is committed to upskilling and developing South Africa’s future leaders. The JSE established the JSE Empowerment Fund to provide bursaries for previously disadvantaged students to reach their academic goals. The support offered is comprehensive and includes tuition, living costs, books and learning materials, transport allowance and a stipend. Support is renewed annually dependent on student performance.

Bursary applications for 2023 are available for applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • You are a top performer who is studying full-time towards a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Information Technology, Informatics or Data Analytics
  • You are a South African citizen from a previously advantaged designated group
  • The joint income of your parents or guardians must not exceed R350 000 per year
  • You are in your second, third or Honours level of study
  • You have a minimum aggregate of 60%

Please note your applications must include an affidavit confirming the information provided. Please indicate if you are a dependent of a JSE employee in your bursary application.
